Ornamental by Lameice
Lameice is a Jerusalemite designer based in Milan, where she received her Master’s degree in Furniture Design from Politecnico di Milano. Her work explores the emotional and cultural life of objects, how form, color, and material can transmit memory, intimacy, and the poetic logic of domestic rituals.
Working primarily with glass, Lameice embraces the material’s paradoxes: its historical significance in her region, its fragility and resilience, its capacity to hold both breath and light. Her studio, Ornamental by Lameice, collaborates with glassblowers in the Palestinian village of Jaba’, where each piece is shaped by hand, without molds, allowing the material to rebel, and the artisan’s breath to remain present in the final form.
In this collection, she presents works from three ongoing series:
– Dreamlike, an exploration of softness and fluidity through wine glasses and pitchers;
– Eye Candy, a playful, surreal take on cocktail glasses and sweet forms;
– and Teta Edition, nostalgic liqueur glasses and egg cups inspired by grandmotherly rituals.Guided by a design philosophy of optimism, femininity, and visual wit, Lameice’s pieces blur the line between sculpture and tableware. Awkward curves, tender gestures, and unexpected color combinations give her objects a quiet charge, one that’s both celebratory and contemplative.
