Blikvanger is a Georgian brand established in Tbilisi, Georgia. The brand was founded in November 2016 by Ana Odishelidze and Ani Tsintskiladze. A few months after the foundation, they opened a concept store in Tbilisi, and currently, Ani continues to be the only designer of the brand.
After studying graphic design and graduating from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Ani decided to get back to her childhood hobby and started her career as a fashion designer. Her first professional attempt was participating in Benext – a contest for international young designers. In the contest, she won a full scholarship for Masters in Fashion Design at HFFA, Milan. That’s where she started thinking about having her own brand.
Since 2017 Blikvanger collections are present on the MBFWT runway. The brand has also participated in MBFW Madrid and Fashion Week Poland, featured their collections in Pitti Super showroom in Milan, and Who’s Next trade show in Paris as well.
The name – Blikvanger is a German-Dutch word meaning eye-catcher, memorable, as well as a butterfly catcher.
The idea of the brand is to bring together a variety of styles and make them blend into one concept – being fierce and confident. The styles may differ from classic to grunge. Blikvanger gives its customers a chance to express their inner world as much as possible and to dress out of frame, it seeks to unravel the multidimensional personality and diverse temper. However, in its style, Blikvanger always catches a perfect balance between “normal” and “out of frame”. The brand’s collections mostly focus on multi-functional and transformable clothing, embroidery and color varieties. It draws inspiration from everything in life: people, nature, art, architecture, colors, sounds.
Blikvanger is to dare, have fun, be fun, be confidently cool, be risky, enjoy life!
