SLOYDLAB

A diamond in the rough, ingenuitive and unconstrained – SLOYDLAB is rooted in the passionate furniture making of folk culture. Founded 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden, from the vision of designer Matilda Hunyadi to incorporate historical influences in contemporary design. Inspiration from old crafts are mixed with influences from tailoring and curvaceous ornaments get a modern silhouette when Matilda reinterprets folk art in a new context.

Matilda Hunyadi has studied her Master of Fine Arts in Industrial Design at Konstfack, Stockholm, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Ingvar Kamprad Design Centrum, Lund. She has previously exhibited at venues such as Mint shop during London Design Festival, Maison et Objet in Paris and Milan Furniture Fair. She has been published in magazines such as The New York Times, RUM and as “rising star” in ELLE Decoration.
