Björn Atldax
Björn Atldax is an artist from Stockholm that has worked as an artist, illustrator, and designer since 1996, both solo and as one half of Vår together with Karl Grandin. After graduating from Beckmans School of Design in 1999, Atldax was part of the small group of founders behind the clothing brand Cheap Monday in 2004. Together with Karl Grandin, he created the famous logo, a skull that originally included an inverted crucifix. It was meant to be an anti-Christian statement, citing religion as the cause of many wars. Björn Atldax works in a lot of different fields and mediums, always aiming for something that is both calm and bizarre. Here he created new creatures and constructs through collages of old copper engravings with borrowed aesthetics from old educational posters. When these different pictures mate their meaning shifts into something both interesting and a little unnerving.
