Elin Arvidsson
The emerging talent Elin Arvidsson is currently in the final stages of the master’s program at The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, Sweden. She is continuously seeking methods to explore archetypes and the definition of garments through creating experimental methods in solutions in both the conceptual and making processes.
Arvidsson grew up in the south of Sweden living close to nature and the great privilege and freedom in exploring creativity at an early age. Her parent’s great love for gardening and craftsmanship led her to develop her own talents in making garments and building furniture for her dolls. A passion that later developed into constructing patterns and making garments for herself by using leftover materials. After a foundation year at an art school in Stockholm, the urge of creating garments led her to The Swedish School of Textiles in Borås to fulfil her dream.
During her bachelor's, she found a great interest in conceptual and experimental design methods, which is becoming her signum and is continued to be explored in her MA studies. She deals with definitions, questioning identity and practical necessities of the garments by working with information that is known to the majority. She tries to twist this for an alternative outcome.
These projects contribute with new design methods but also challenging pieces where the origin of the identity is still there. Elin Arvidsson’s designs are aimed at those who share her interest in the existing, but also find pleasure in the alternatives.
