Joanna Prażmo

Joanna Prażmo is a London-based fashion brand founded by a Polish fashion designer in 2019. She graduated from Fashion Design Womenswear at the London College of Fashion and Pattern Design at Via University College in Denmark.

Her creative process is inspired by contemporary art, everyday-life stories, and childhood memories. Educated and experienced as a pattern maker and as a tailor, Joanna later developed her interest in special effects materials.

In her recent work, she explores the form of a body and the processes that occur within. Her designs are body shaped and made from unconventional liquid materials such as silicone rubber, melted plastic, and epoxy resin. The process of making involves body casting, sculpting, mold making, draping, dipping, and painting. She uses everyday and found objects such as tights, plastic bags, hairpins, metal hardware, and metal accessories to transform them into wearable pieces. The final result is achieved by experimenting with the playfulness of materials used in the process, exploring their translucency, texture, and exposure to light. Each piece is different and unique and can be customized to different body shapes. 

The 2023 collection is inspired by the natural processes of aging and body transformation after pregnancy such as stretch marks, scars, breasts leaking, weight loss, and loosening skin.
